CLARENDON HILLS — Eric Chisausky could easily walk from his current job to the position he will fill starting July 1. The assistant principal at Clarendon Hills Middle School will take over as principal at Walker School. “This is a great community, and I have the advantage of having worked with many of the families who have students at Walker,” Chisausky said. “I’m thrilled about having this opportunity; I never wanted to leave this district.” Chisausky, 37, will be paid $97,500 for 2013-14 school year principal. District 181 hosts family golf outings

HINSDALE — Hinsdale-Clarendon Hills Elementary District 181 PTOs are hosting a districtwide family golf outing on June 3 and July 8, at the Chicago Highlands Club. A portion of each golfer’s registration will be donated to District 181 schools. Attendees can register for golf individually or with up to three partners. In addition to golfing, pool passes for the Chicago Highlands Club facility are available on both days for golfers’ families. Clarendon Hills students lead service-driven collection

CLARENDON HILLS — Prospect School students recently concluded a collection that resulted in more than $1,300 in donations and goods for the People’s Resource Center, which serves families in DuPage County through job assistance, clothing, food, housing and skill training. This was the first year Prospect School offered a service-based, after-school enrichment opportunity for students. The service club visited the People’s Resource Center Westmont location earlier this year. Students left eager to assist the organization and immediately got to work. HINSDALE — Two retired principals are returning to Hinsdale Central High School as interim leaders. The Hinsdale High School District 86 Board approved hiring Tom Paulsen and Frank Kesman as interim principals for next school year. Principal Michael McGrory announced last month he has accepted a position as a high school principal in Iowa, his home state. A national search for a permanent replacement for McGrory will start in the fall, Superintendent Nicholas Wahl said. Hinsdale District 86 votes to rebid summer construction projects

HINSDALE — The Hinsdale High School District 86 Board voted Monday to cancel contracts for summer construction projects. The decision could result in cancelation fees of $17,000 to the construction firm Gilbane Inc. and $12,000 to their contractors. The board voted 4-3 to cancel the contracts for all but the safety ladders and railings for rooftop equipment at Hinsdale South. Newly elected Victor Casini, Ed Corcoran and Claudia Manley were joined by board member Richard Skoda in voting to cancel the contracts the board approved in April. The Clarendon Hills Middle School eighth-grader will perform Thursday in her third consecutive Donoroo, a fundraising talent show. A year ago, Frankie was recognized by judges as the top act when she accompanied herself on guitar while singing “Lights” by Ellie Goulding. The Oak School first- and second-grader are winners of the kids’ chef competition, held as part of Hooray for Health, a healthy eating event at Oak School May 16. The siblings found a tasty way to eat their veggies when they created Healthy Banana Carrot Chocolate Chip Bread. College of DuPage officials look at budget with $2.5 million deficit

The College of DuPage Board got its first look at the proposed 2014 budget May 16. While the college’s financial rating is good, challenges loom in the immediate future, challenges that may lead to an increase in tuition. At the core of the college’s potential problems is the failure of the state of Illinois to deliver on funding education, college officials said. “The state continues to be a significant challenge to the college,” said Thomas Glaser, senior vice president of finance and administration. HINSDALE — Hinsdale High School District 86 officials will hold off on some summer projects under contract, at a cancelation cost of up to $30,000. Doug Lim, manager for the construction firm Gilbane Inc., said he probably would be able to negotiate Gilbane’s $17,000 cancelation fee to about $9,100, said Superintendent Nicholas Wahl. District officials had proposed redoing the hallways, one or two areas at a time, from ceiling to floor, with new light fixtures and wall coverings, and painting the lockers in the school colors. Westview Hills Middle School is hosting its eighth annual Night of the Fine Arts at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the school, 630 65th St. Willowbrook. The evening kicks off at 6 p.m. with a display of the best student artwork of the year. At 7 p.m., the spring band concert will be presented with the theme A Night at the Movies.
