But just as interesting about our state senator’s talk was how passionate Dillard is about Lincoln and how he feels both a professional and personal connection to the 16th president. That personal connection is through Dillard’s in-laws. His wife Stephanie is a great-great-granddaughter of former Illinois Gov. Richard J. HINSDALE — Technology now plays a major role in our day-to-day lives, bringing a host of time-saving benefits, but also a few drawbacks for our youth. Research shows too much screen time can result in a decline in academic performance, a lack of social skills, and an increase in pediatric health issues. According to KidsHealth, kids and teens 8 to 18 years old spend an average of four hours a day in front of a screen and almost two additional hours on the computer (outside of school work) or playing video games. About 20 contestants who register and post a video on YouTube of themselves singing will be chosen to perform from 3 to 5 p.m. June 8 for the Clarendon Hills Idol competition. “I thought it would be cool to have something community based,” Berg said. “It’s a … ]]> Fri, 24 May 2013 11:15:14 -0500 http://clarendonhills.suntimes.com/20279279-781/clarendon-hills-idol-to-make-debut-at-daisy-days.html http://clarendonhills.suntimes.com/20279279-781/clarendon-hills-idol-to-make-debut-at-daisy-days.html
