Nazareth Academy hosts career day

Nazareth Academy welcomed parents and alumni to a Math & Science Career Day on Nov. 30. The panelists discussed their own paths of higher education, as well as the way the study of math and science have affected their careers. The panelists also answered questions from students throughout the day.
The school wishes to thank the following individuals, all of whom so graciously volunteered their time and expertise.
Anthony Arbogast Class of 2003: Arbogast graduated from Grand Canyon University with a bachelor’s degree in finance & economics. He worked five years as a financial adviser before moving to the world of educational marketing. He has been with the K-12 Teacher’s Alliance for three years. He is completing his MBA through Colorado State University.
Chuck Bareis: Bareis is a Nazareth parent who practices medicine at MacNeal Hospital in Berwyn, where is also the chief medical officer. He earned a bachelor’s degree in biology at the University of Illinois.
Janet Zeiler Bresch, Class of 1981: Bresch graduated from Nazareth in 1981, Marquette University in 1985 and Loyola Stritch School of Medicine in 1991. She did her ophthalmology residency at the University of Illinois Eye and Ear Infirmary from 1992-1995. She has been in private practice with the Suburban Associates in ophthalmology in the northwest suburbs ever since.
Kim Brown: Brown is a Nazareth parent who works for Fresenius Kabi, USA which manufactures generic injectable pharmaceuticals. She is the senior manager of production and technology transfer. She holds a bachelor of science degree in chemistry from Saint Mary’s of Notre Dame and a Ph.D. in biochemistry from Rush University in Chicago.
Christine Jackson: Jackson is a Nazareth parent who is an elementary school teacher. She has worked in various Industrial Engineering positions with UPS, Kraft General Foods and The Quaker Oats Company. She received master degrees in Elementary Education from Chicago State University and Adult Continuing Education from Northern Illinois University and a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from Purdue University.
Mathew Markos: Markos is a Nazareth parent who works as a director of the Circuit Court of Cook County Forensic Clinical Services and UIC professor of medicine and psychiatry. He has worked on some notable criminal cases in the Chicago area and recently was a guest speaker at a meeting for our Health Careers Club.
Dan Montgomery, Class Of 2003: Montgomery graduated from Nazareth in 2003 and Purdue University in 2007 with a bachelor’s degree in nuclear engineering. He has since gone on to work for Accenture and Slalom Consulting, specializing in business intelligence consulting.
Debbi Pach: A Nazareth parent, Pach received her bachelor of nursing degree from University of Michigan and worked as a staff nurse in pediatrics in Ann Arbor. She moved to the Chicago area with her family in 1991 and has worked at Rush University Medical Center since that time. She received her master’s in nursing from Rush University and seven years ago started her position as a vlinical research nurse.
Megan Parkes, Class of 1998: Parkes, Nazareth Class of 1998, is a physiatrist who specializes in physical medicine and rehabilitation with Marianjoy Medical Group. She attended college at Bradley University and Rush University for her medical education. She works for Marianjoy and specializes in Neurorehab, pain management and women’s health rehabilitation.
Mike Sifferman, Class of 2005: Sifferman is a Nazareth alumnus (Class of 2005) who works as a statistical analyst for the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association and is also studying for the first actuarial exam.
Jennifer Smith, Class of 1997: Smith graduated from Nazareth in 1997. She works as a paramedic and firefighter for several fire protection districts including Orland, Roberts Park and Willow Springs. She also serves as a first responder for special events occurring at Toyota Park Stadium in Bridgeview and as an instructor in the Christ Hospital Paramedic Program. She graduated from Marquette University with a bachelor of science degree in biomedical sciences with minors in both biology and chemistry.~.
