The sun shone and laughter filled the yard as families enjoyed a welcome respite during the Wellness House’s annual Summerfest on Aug. 11 held at their Hinsdale location.

The family-oriented party allowed participants an opportunity to come together and socialize for one last time in the summer. Although the activities were geared toward children and families, all Wellness House participants and their families were invited to attend.

More than 65 people turned out to enjoy a bounce house, face painter, magician, cotton candy and popcorn machines, and lawn games. Representatives from the DuPage Children’s Museum brought over games and activities for the kids to enjoy.

“During treatment, participants don’t always have time to get out and enjoy things together,” said Devon Artusio, Family Matters program associate who coordinated the afternoon. “We always say that even though they’re going through this tough time, it’s okay to have fun as a family and we want to help provide that fun.” ~.
