Elmhurst concert presents music of Jane Austen’s time

Soprano and violinist Josefien Stoppelenburg joins Stephen Alltop, music director of the Elmhurst Symphony for “The Music of Jane Austen Recital and Tea” at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, March 10 at the Elmhurst Christian Reformed Church, 149 Brush Hill Rd. in Elmhurst. Compositions of Beethoven, Handel, Schubert, Clementi, Storace, Dibdin and Mozart, among others, will be sung and played by Stoppelenburg, and complemented by Alltop’s historical narrative and piano accompaniment. The program celebrates the 200th anniversary of the printing of Austen’s novel, Sense and Sensibility. Following the recital, guests will enjoy tea, sandwiches, and dessert by Café Amano in the Garden Room of the church. Tickets are $35 per person; please reserve no later than March 1.
