Family Friendly: Breakfast with the Bunny

The guest of honor will be hopping around for three hours at Breakfast with the Easter Bunny, Saturday, April 12 at the Westchester Park District Community Center, 10201 Bond St.

“Breakfast runs from 7 a.m.-noon,” said Superintendent of Recreation Lianne R. Robinette. “A roving magician and a balloon artist will be there from 8:30-11:30 a.m.” So will the Easter Bunny. “Besides the entertainment, one of our rooms is set up with games and coloring pages for the kids,” Robinette reported.

The breakfast will include sausages, pancakes, milk and orange juice. The meal portion of the event is handled by the Kiwanis Club, which co-sponsors the event.

Robinette advised,” The closer to noon, the more crowded it gets.”

Families can drop-in anytime. No reservations are needed.

Tickets are $6 for adults, $4 for children under 12. Arrive between 7-8:30 a.m. for the Early Bird Special and you receive $1 off each ticket.

A free Easter Egg Hunt outside starts at noon.

BESIDES SHREK, OF COURSE

You and your child, ages 3-5, will learn Who Lives in a Swamp?, 10-11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 5 or Sunday, April 6 at Brookfield Zoo, First Ave. and 31st St. After exploring the topic through play, art and sensory experiences, you’ll visit the swamp to meet the creatures that live there. Cost is $38 per class. Reservations are required.

PIECEWORK

Preschoolers can create anything from buildings to bulldozers at Lego Play, 1-2:30 p.m. Thursday, March 27 at Thomas Ford Memorial Library, 800 Chestnut St., Western Springs. The finished products will be displayed in the library. No registration is required.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

The question being posed at the Oak Brook Barnes and Noble’s 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 26 storytime is, Are You Curious? Kids will hear Margret and H. A. Rey’s, “Curious George and the Pizza Party” and “Curious George Goes to a Chocolate Factory.” There will also be a themed activity during this event at 297 Oakbrook Center.

DESPICABLE DAY

Here’s a double-header your children will love. Bring them to a screening of “Despicable Me 2,” 1 p.m. Saturday, March 29 at the Oak Brook Public Library, 600 Oak Brook Road. Afterwards they will do a Make Your Own Minion Craft.
