Kids become car designers at Build-a-Car, 1-2 p.m. Tuesday, March 25 at Thomas Ford Memorial Library, 800 Chestnut St., Western Springs.
“We will provide boxes for them and supplies,” said youth services librarian Dana Folkerts. “They’ll have wheels and headlights that they can glue onto the car.” There will also be stickers and paints.
“They will basically customize their own car,” Folkerts said. “It’s something that they can do with one adult helping them.”
Kids can leave their cars at the library, then come back the next day at 1 p.m., climb inside their vehicles and watch a screening of the movie, “Cars.” “It will kind of be like a drive-in movie,” Folkerts said.
Spaces were filling quickly at press time so make reservations as soon as possible.
Even kids without cars are welcome to drop in with a parent to watch the movie.
The event is part of a collaborative Kids Read program with several other local libraries.
