Instead of spending Valentine’s Day eating a tub of Ben and Jerry’s and watching reruns of “CSI,” single guys and gals can enjoy the holiday with one of these Valentine’s Day events for singles in suburban Chicago. Valentine’s Day Special Event, 10 a.m. Feb. 14, Northfield

Celebrate Feb. 14 with a full day of Valentine’s events. Storyteller Debi Gajewski begins the day with the story of Jack Benny, one of the most popular Chicago area legends in comedy. Enjoy a Valentine’s Day lunch beginning at 11 a.m. and end the day with “Village Wooing” a romantic comedy by ShawChicago. North Shore Senior Center, 161 Northfield Road. ‘Donna & Rocco’s Big Fat Italian Wedding,’ 7 p.m. Feb. 14, Skokie

In this interactive show, Donna and Rocco are finally getting hitched after dating for 15 years and friends, family, dinner, drinks and dancing are all on the menu. Maggiano’s Little Italy Old Orchard, 4999 Old Orchard Center. $60.

Bernadette Peters, 8 p.m. Feb. 14, Waukegan

Tony Award-winning actress Bernadette Peters presents a special Valentine’s Day performance. Genesee Theatre, 203 N. Genesee St. Free.

Valentine’s Day Lunch, 11 a.m. Feb. 14, Libertyville

Celebrate Valentine’s Day at the Magnolia Cafe & Bakery. Lunch options include a deep fried catfish filet, stuffed pork tenderloin and baked chicken and dumplings. Lambs Farm, 14245 W. Rockland Road. $8.95.

Valentine’s Day Celebration, 11:30 a.m. Feb. 14, Wheeling

Valentine’s Day Production of ‘Same Time Next Year’, 6:30 p.m. Feb. 14, Libertyville
