CLARENDON HILLS — Video, hands-on training and discussion all were part of a babysitting course Feb. 10 at the Clarendon Hills Park District.
Taught by an American Red Cross instructor, the class was open to kids ages 11 to 15 years who are interested in caring for infants and school-age children.
Training included responding to emergencies and illnesses with first aid, rescue breathing and other appropriate care along with making decisions under pressure, communicating with parents to learn household rules, recognizing safety and hygiene issues, managing young children, and diapering and other care for infants.
The babysitting class will be offered again from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. April 20.
For more information, call the park district office, (630) 323-2626.
